So often I catch myself thinking of "church" as being that place I attend on Sunday morning. Even if you accept the belief that it is the people, not the building, I still find myself limiting the concept of "church" to that group of people I see on Sunday morning. I love when God gives me glimpses of how wrong that image is!
That happened again last week, when Melissa and I got to share with Sacramento Bible Church, a Japanese MB Church meeting in Sacramento. This church was started by my friend Pastor Hajimu Fujii and his wife Kayoko about 8 years ago. Pastor Fujii, originally from Japan, was called to Fresno to plant a church back in the 90's. He was gracious to allow us to share our vision for missions in Peru with the Sacramento church, and we truly enjoyed celebrating at a home with fellow believers. While the service was mostly in Japanese, there was a connection with fellow people of faith, and a confirmation of the truth of a global church.
Thank you for your gracious hospitality, your joy in celebrating the God we serve, and the fellowship we enjoyed together! May God continue to grow your congregations, and expand your influence in His kingdom!
