Knowing that I Know that I Know

Isaiah 46:3-5, 9-13
"Listen to me, O house of Jacob, all you who remain of the house of Israel, you whom I have upheld since you were conceived, and have carried since your birth. Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you. To whom will you compare me or count me equal? To whom will you liken me that we may be compared?"
"Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please. From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that will I bring about; what I have planned, that will I do. Listen to me, you stubborn-hearted, you who are far from righteousness. I am bringing my righteousness near, it is not far away; and my salvation will not be delayed. I will grant salvation to Zion, my splendor to Israel."

Next to these verses in my Bible, it says this: "1/28/00 re: God's plan for our ministry"

I don't remember much about 1/28/00.  I know that Lowell and I weren't parents yet (though we desperately wanted to be) and I know that God was speaking somehow about a future ministry for Lowell and me together and I had a hard time at that point imagining that.  : )  But a lot can happen in 12 years and it's amazing for me to look at these verses and think about how they apply to us now.  And what comfort I get from these promises. That He made us and will carry and sustain us and rescue us.  And that His purpose will stand!  Not mine or Lowell's, but GOD'S.

We were BLESSED to spend most of this last week in Mexico at a Retreat/Consultation for Latin American missionaries serving with MB Mission.  Spending time with others who have walked this path and are still out there serving was so refreshing and encouraging.  Their acceptance of us was an honor.  Their prayers were filled with understanding.  Our team of missionaries to Peru washing each other's feet, unifying.

And in the days there with nothing to pack and no urgent decisions to make, I found myself at peace - knowing again that I know that I know that this is what God has for us to do right now.  We belong on this path and He is the One leading us and sustaining us and helping us.

This week is going to be an intense one of continuing the packing efforts.  But I'll be doing it with a renewed sense of the call we are responding to and the plans God has for us. God is at work doing all that He pleases, taking this family to a far-off land to fulfill His purposes.  And in that I have great PEACE.
