Wednesday afternoon, 2:44pm…
Sitting at the gate at the Lima airport waiting to fly to Trujillo where
we’ll be living for the next couple of months.
It’s been a week since we left the US for Peru and our time here so far
has been good. We had more free time
than we expected in Lima which meant we were able to explore the city and also
get some much needed rest at the wonderful missionary guest house where we were
staying. Even though the kids were sick
with stomach flu right before we left Fresno, other than allergies we have been
healthy since arriving in Peru and we are extremely thankful for that.
Today marks an important step in this journey as we move to
Trujillo where we will be getting to know the members of the MB church there
including leaders of the MB Conference in Peru.
We first met these wonderful people during our quick visit to Peru at
the beginning of this year and we are looking forward to spending a couple of
months with them before moving farther north where we will be working longer
term. I am so thankful for the ways God
has prepared us for this. We know He is
helping us, has paved the way and opened the doors and we are excited to take
this next step.
The kids have been doing well and seem to be enjoying the
new sights and adjusting to the changes.
Many more adjustments will be coming (such as living in the church
parsonage/apartment!) but God’s peace has been tangible through it all. Even in saying goodbye to loved ones, though
there were some tears and much emotion, there was also peace. I can truly say “it is well” with our souls.
