Surprise?

We knew there might be some issues getting out of Fresno because of fog...  but ultimately it wasn't the fog that changed our plans.  Our first flight this morning was delayed and delayed and delayed and finally cancelled.  We ended up rescheduling our LA-Lima flight for tomorrow (Saturday) instead of today and rented a car to drive down to LA so we don't risk getting stuck in Fresno again tomorrow.

So here we are in LA, right next door to the airport.  We were a bit frustrated when we realized we were going to have to postpone our LA-Lima flight til tomorrow, but once we had done it were actually okay with it.  We've ended up having a very nice day and are thankful for some rest.  We realized (as far as we can recall) that except for church events and Spring Adventure last year (which was exhausting!) we haven't gone anywhere overnight w/o the kids since our anniversary almost 2 years ago!  I think God wanted us to take a day to breathe before we head into an intense bunch of days and the processing that will follow.  So in the end, instead of it feeling like a frustrating interruption, it actually feels like a gift we wouldn't have asked for or taken on our own (b/c we didn't want to leave the kids longer than we had to) but perhaps really needed.  Isn't that just like God?  Once again we are experiencing peace that passes understanding...

Now that we've had a chance to rest and watch the airplanes land, I think we're feeling more ready than ever to get on the plane and get to Peru!  Hopefully the next post will say that we made it!  I think it will...

"The Lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
He leads me beside quiet waters,
He refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths for His name's sake."
Psalm 23:1-3
